We are now offering fluoride varnish at 9 and 18 month check ups.

Tooth decay is a process where the protective coating of the teeth is worn away by acid produced by bacteria. It is five times more common than asthma and seven times more common than hay fever! Dental caries (cavities) are on the rise among children ages 2 to 5, so prevention is especially important in this age group.

Fluoride varnish is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry starting with the eruption of the first tooth. Fluoride varnish is a protective coating that is painted on teeth, to help prevent or stop tooth decay. It takes approximately 40-60 seconds to apply, and at PCOR it is done at the 9 and 18 month check ups. If your baby does not have teeth at 9 months, it will be done at the 1 year check up.

For girls who have not yet seen a GYN, our providers are available to discuss various birth control options.

Several providers can discuss and prescribe oral contraceptive pills (OCP).

Dr. Lostumbo is now offering an additional option- Nexplanon. Nexplanon is a small plastic rod that is inserted under the skin of the upper arm that can be used to prevent pregnancy for three years. The procedure takes only a few minutes and is done under local anesthetic in our office. If you are interested in Nexplanon, please call the office or send a message through the patient portal to request a consult with Dr. Lostumbo.
